And today we’re going to learn more about this artificial intelligence service that’s been causing a stir!

What is Midjourney?

Developed by Midjourney, Inc, an independent research lab in San Francisco, Midjourney is an artificial intelligence platform that generates images from prompts, i.e. descriptions.

It's not the only one out there, we also have DALL-E and Stable Diffusion which are similar.

We need to mention that the tool is in beta, but you can use it for testing, so it won't always generate what you want, and it can result in some bizarre things.

How to create an account?

In order to start using Midjourney, you need to create an account. And this process starts on their website, Midjourney.com, in the bottom right corner click on “Join the beta”.

After clicking this button, you will be redirected to Discord, this is because the program does not have its own application, it works from a bot made in Discord.

Join the Midjourney server to start using it, in the meantime, go back to the website and click “Sign In” to create your account.

Once you do this, approve the use of discord with an external application, this way your account will be created.

How does Midjourney work?

After you create your account on Midjourney, click on “Join the Discord to start creating”, this will take you back to Discord to start using the tool.

To do this, you will have to click on the available channels that are called “newbie”, it can be any of them, it is in these channels that the prompts should be inserted.

In the text box, type /imagine and press enter, this will open the prompt, then just type what you want to create in Midjourney and press enter again.

The tool does not have very good support for Portuguese, so the ideal would be for the description of the image was written in English.

When you use it for the first time, it will ask you to accept the terms of use, so click “Accept ToS”.

Once the image has been generated, it can be downloaded by clicking on it, and with the right button you select “save image as”, and you can save it anywhere on your computer, easy right?

Extra tips for using Midjourney

When generating an image, you may notice that it contains several buttons below it, such as U and V followed by some number, as well as an emoji to redo the image.

OU means Upscale, that is, when using this button, more images will be generated from the description, however, more detailed and resized.

While V stands for Versions, which will generate 4 new images for you to use.

Midjourney is just one of several AI tools that are disrupting the fabric of various markets and also making some processes easier.
